Lincoln Medical Home Health and Hospice, an affiliate of Lincoln Health System, welcomes Chancy McCormick, RN as its new administrator. Chancy’s role will utilize both her clinical nursing experience and her leadership skills to lead the organization and provide compassionate care to patients and families in and around Lincoln County.
McCormick has been a registered nurse for the past 10 years. Eight of those years have been spent providing care for Home Health and Hospice patients. In addition to providing nursing care, Chancy has served in leadership roles for other agencies including Nursing Director for Home Health and Hospice Manager.
To Chancy, Home Health and Hospice Nursing is a calling. Growing up, Chancy watched her mother struggle to care for her brother who has Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome, a rare condition that almost exclusively affects males. Lesch-Nyhan causes an overproduction of uric acid that results in abnormal involuntary muscle movements, such as tensing, jerking, and flailing, leaving the person unable to walk. Due to the area they lived, Home Health aides were not easily accessible leaving her mother to provide all of the necessary around the clock care. “Watching my mother provide selfless care to my brother made me want to help others in similar situations. Caregivers need help. Home Health providers can provide this help and give the loved ones providing care a little relief,” stated McCormick.
In the short time since her start here in Lincoln County, McCormick has already set goals for herself and the agency. “Together as a team, our goal in Home Health is to assist patients and their families reach their maximum potential and have the best possible quality of life related to their diagnosis. Our collective goal for Hospice is to support patients and their families during one of the most difficult times of their lives. We will strive to be there when that transition takes place.” Chancy is passionate about her role and wants to be an advocate for every patient and family they serve in the same way she would advocate for her mother and her brother.
“Chancy is dedicated to lead by example and we are very excited to welcome her to Lincoln Health System,” said Vicky Groce, RN, MSN, Chief Nursing Officer for LHS. “We look forward to seeing the impact her passion will make on our health system and our community.”
