LMC Ambulance service is using the technology of UV lights to keep their ambulances safe and clean during the COVID-19 pandemic. The UV lights are used in addition to their already strict cleaning protocols and adds an extra layer of protection against COVID-19 and flu viruses.
The UV sanitation lights were added to each front line ALS trucks in late 2020. After each call or patient transport, the ambulance service staff thoroughly cleans the vehicle replacing linens, wiping down all surfaces with disinfectant cleaner, and then exposing the interior of the ambulance to the Ultraviolet light. The entire process can take up to 25 minutes but ensures a safe, clean environment for the staff and patients.
