Vicky Groce named Motlow College “First Annual Alumni of the Year!”
On Saturday, March 12, Motlow College honored Vicky Groce, Lincoln County Health System Chief Nursing Officer, “First Annual Alumni of the Year!”
As a young mother and wife, Vicky began her educational journey towards becoming a nurse at Motlow State Community College in 1984 where she earned her Associates Degree. She continued her nursing education at the University of Alabama in Huntsville receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in 1992; followed by her Master’s Degree in 1994 to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her latest accomplishment includes obtaining a license as a Nursing Home Administrator where she continues to serve her community proudly.
Ms. Groce has work faithfully for the Lincoln County Health Systems for the past 32 years. She started out as a nursing assistant in 1983 and work through the ranks to her current role as Chief Nursing Officer that she is held for 23 years. Expanding her professional reach outside of Lincoln County, Vicky administered legal counseling for Hall, Booth, Smith, and Slover in Nashville Tennessee as well as serving as an adjunct faculty member educating the nurses of tomorrow at Motlow State Community College.
In previous years Ms. Groce has held the positions of Tennessee Nurses Association District President from 1997 to 2000 and Lincoln County Leadership Board of Directors member from 2004 to 2007. She currently serves on the Martin Methodist College of Nursing Advisory Board, Motlow State Community College Nursing Advisory Board, and is a member of the Lincoln County Board of Health.
Vicky has also been nominated and honored with many awards such as the Voluntary Effort Award in 1985, the Quorum of Excellence Award in 1992, and the Tennessee Hospital Association Nurse of Distinction Award in 1995.
Most of all Vicky Groce is a loving wife to Steve Groce, a proud mother of two, a blessed grandmother of one, and owner of a spoiled dog named Lily.
